Today I paid $17,367 (about C$480 or £364) at 7-Eleven. In this country everyone pays their bills at the convenience store. The woman at the cash didn’t even flinch at my wad of bills.

what i don’t get is why we need to pay our electricity bill, water bill etc, all in cash!?
in Dar es Salaam my electricity was pay-as-you-go. Which lead to several inconvenient drunk nights.
